- Popular streamer and ex-pro player Shroud stated that Rainbow Six Siege is so realistic that it ruins the competitive edge of the game.
Rainbow Six Siege is a success story for Ubisoft, with this game Ubisoft showed that they can produce an FPS title with an esports scene. The game has been through a lot over the past years. However, what makes Rainbow Six Siege different from other FPS titles is realism. The game has a lot of realistic objects and mechanics inside, from one headshot mechanic to weapon gameplay. The realism in the game is actually on a better level than some FPS tiles, for example, some gadgets are just prototypes and not working modules even. However, Shroud said it does affect the competitive edge in the game.
Popular Streamer Shroud stated “The difference in reload time creates an inconsistency in crucial moments. It’s an unnecessary feature. The features like that – they don’t have a purpose. They’re just there because somebody in the company asked for it” This is mostly true since if there is lesser bullets in the magazine it does reload faster and there are a lot of different reload times in the game. Shroud continued and took a swing on low health graphica=l changes. A lot of shooters have this stupid mechanic when you’re low on HP, your audio starts to muffle, your screen starts to dim, I hate it. I get why they have it, but I hate it“. Shroud believes that these mechanics are ruining the game’s potential for success.
