When we are talking about FPS titles, there are some franchises that inspired other titles. Battlefield titles brought big-scale wars into the gaming world and since then we have seen games like Squad coming from the mods of Battlefield games. Battlefield’s number one rival has always been Call of Duty. When we are talking about this rivalry we have to keep in mind that Battlefield V clearly lost this generation and we are focused much more on the next Battlefield game, which DICE announced it will come in 2021.
So why is the next Battlefield game not coming with the new consoles? Well, there are two possible explanations for this, DICE really tried to save Battlefield V for a long time, after all, World War 2 is supposed to be great with Battlefield gameplay. However, it started as a catastrophe, and DICE spent a lot of energy on it and this pushed the release date of the next BF title. Also, we need to keep in mind the recent success of Call of Duty title, and DICE and EA will want to release this game when it is done, unlike Battlefield V which had so many problems because it was not done before the release.
Let us be honest, Battlefield does need new horizons since we have seen World War 2 a lot over the last two decades and prior to this, we have seen World War 1 which is even older. We are expecting DICE and EA to create a new Battlefield title focusing on a more modern timeline. Of course, this will mean more customization options, more weaponry, and better gameplay. We all wished a Battle Royale game with Battlefield 3 and 4 mechanics and EA and DICE missed their chance, we are hoping they will not make the same mistake with the next Battlefield game.
