Epic Games Store Is Offering 12 Free Games Until New Year

Epic Games Store was a huge undertaking for Epic Games. This was certainly a challenge because Steam is a market giant with a very good reputation among gamers. This was due to the massive sales we see throughout the year. Also, one other thing that Steam is simple software. Steam is not flashy like the other game launchers, however, it does its job much better. Regardless Steam is nearly a monopoly in the market. But Epic Games assumed that they can break this monopoly. However, this is not that easy. Epic Games Store’s initial strategy was to offer lesser commissions to developers and publishers and offer free games for the players to pull them towards their launcher. But this did not work as expected until now. Of course, there are a lot of players downloaded the Epic Games Store, but they did this mostly to get the free games.

This marketing race between two huge companies certainly worked in the interest of gamers. Because of the competition, we started to see more and more reduced prices and free games. Around May 2019 Epic Games store increased the number of free games by changing the timeframe of availability from 2 weeks to 1 week. However, they are going crazy this new year and offering twelve games for twelve days. So each day there will be a free game for players to have it free of charge. This is insane and it is a direct move against Steam’s Winter Sales. However, we currently do not know what these games will be. Epic Games Store will give 12 free games starting from December 19th.

Of course, the holiday season is one of the times of the year where people spend more money. This is going to be an interesting holiday for gamers.
