Fnatic finally wins its first match of the LEC Spring split. G2 Esports remains undefeated as Shalke 04 and Vitality complete the top 3 in the standings.
Day 5 2019 LEC Spring Split Matches Recap
Day 1 of the 2019 LEC spring split’s third week began with G2 stomping SK Gaming, improving to a 5-0 record. Shalke 04 now sits in second place alone following a win over Splyce. Fnatic meanwhile finally got its first win of the LEC split after defeating newcomers Rogue, now the only winless team left. Fellow LEC newcomers exceL upset superteam Misfits, which now has consecutive losses. Closing the first day, Vitality defeated Origen in the match of the week.
SK vs G2
With a beautiful outplay on Rasmus “Caps” Winther (Urgot) and Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski (Sejuani), SK’s mid laner Choi “Pirean” Jun-sik (Le Blanc) secured the first blood on the G2 superstar mid laner. Jankos made it a one for one trade.
The teams traded kills all over the map as G2 finally turned one of those plays into major objectives by securing the top lane turret as well as a Mountain drake on the bottom side. As SK tried to pick off Jankos in the mid lane, G2 went for the reengage and picked up two kills to set up a Baron. Oskar “Selfmade” Boderek (Lee Sin) tried to face-check it only to get bursted down in an instant.
G2 used the powerplay to rush mid. SK did get a solid shut down on Luka “Perkz” Perkovic (Ezreal), but even down a man G2 had enough damage to fight back. Caps jumped into the backline and created the space his team needed to force its way into SK’s base. In the end, G2 had little trouble taking down the Nexus to keep the undefeated run going.
SPY vs S04
Andrei “Xerxe” Dragomir (Sejuani) went for a gank on his former teammate Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu (Ryze). Tamás “Vizicsacsi” Kiss (Ornn) secured the kill. Shalke quickly identified a win condition by snowballing mid laner Felix “Abbedagge” Braun (Le Blanc). After falling behind with an early death, Abbedage got himself back into the game.
S04 found a good fight in the mid lane, as Abbedagge scored a double kill. The LEC runner-ups waited for jungler Jonas “Memento” Elmarghichi (Olaf) to respawn and added a second Infernal drake in the meantime. With their jungler back, Shalke went for Baron and secured the objective. In a single push, Shalke destroyed all three of their opponent’s inhibitors although Splyce managed to hold them off with a good pick on AD carry Elias “Upset” Lipp (Ezreal), then following it with two more kills.
As the pressure mounted from all sides, Splyce had to stay and defend its base as Shalke went for a second Baron buff. This time around however Splyce simply could not stop the push as S04 wisely fought from far away with Upset and Abbeddagge. Splyce still tried to go for the engage but Shalke easily won the fight, scored an ace and destroyed the Nexus to end the game.
FNC vs SK
Following a slow start, Rogue took the initiative with a mid lane gank by Mateusz “Kikis” Szkudlarek (Sejuani). Chres “Sencux” Laursen (Yasuo) went for the dive on Tim “Nemesis” Lipovšek (Syndra) and pickd up the first kill. Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau (Urgot) showed up with a late Teleport and gave Sencux another kill.
Fnatic meanwhile turned its attention to superstar Martin “Rekkles” Larsson (Kai’Sa). The AD carry picked up one kill in lane and another two in a long, back-and-forth teamfight around the top side of the map, which gave his team an important win condition.
As Kim “Profit” Jun-hyung (Aatrox) split-pushed the bottom lane, Fnatic decided to use the man advantage to start the Baron, forcing Rogue to respond. Zdravets “Hylissang” Galabov (Morgana) hit a perfectly aimed Dark Binding on Kikis as the rest of the team followed it up to instantly burst down Rogue’s jungler. Profit joined in with a Teleport, but it was already too late. Fnatic picked up another kill and secured the Baron.
The powerplay opened two inhibitors as the team turned its attention to the top side of the map. Rogue went for the desperate engage only to watch Rekkles score a pentakill as Fnatic finally picked up its first win of the split.
XL vs MSF

Marc “Caedrel” Lamont (Gragas) had an aggressive start with an early invade followed by a top lane gank to help Ki “Expect” Dae-han (Urgot) secure the first blood. Nubar “Maxlore” Sarafian (Sejuani responded with a mid lane gank to give Fabian “Febiven” Diepstraten (Irelia) a kill and then turn the middle-bottom priority into an Infernal drake.
Misfits identified their win condition and shifted its priority to the bottom side, once again playing through star AD carry Steven “Hans Sama” Liv (Kai’Sa). The high on intensity start turned into a controlled, macro-oriented match as the teams turned any minor advantage into an objective. The teams danced around the Baron pit, and despite exceL winning two fights, Misfits were the one to start the objective as XL had to back off on low health bars. Just as it seemed like an easy Baron for MSF, Fabian “Exile” Schubert (Urgot) jumped in and stole the buff with a Smite from his Unsealed Spellbook rune.
The steal broke the stalemate as exceL followed up with two kills, setting up the siege on Misfits’ base and opening two inhibitors. It soon turned into a solid 7,000 gold lead in XL’s favor. As exceL forced its way towards the top lane, Misfits went for the engage and won the fight. But with XL’s super minions already knocking at the Nexus turrets, Misfits had to defend the base, giving exceL the space to destroy the final inhibitor. The LEC newcomers completed the ace inside Misfits’ base before taking down the Nexus to score the upset.
VIT vs OG
Origen used its push advantage in the bottom lane to set up a gank by Jonas “Kold” Andersen (Sejuani). In the end, support Alfonso “Mithy” Rodríguez (Morgana walked away with the kill. The teams opted for a swap, with Vitality focusing the top side of the map while Origen set its focus on the bottom side.
As the game’s paced slowed and the teams fought for control over Baron, Lee “Mowgli” Jae-ha (Lee Sin) found a flank onto Origen’s players, hitting a beautiful Ultimate for a three-men knock up. As OG struggled for vision, Jakub “Jactroll” Skurzyński (Thresh) picked off Kold with a Death Sentence as Vitality secured another kill and the crucial Smite advantage to secure the objective.
The powerplay went well for Vitality as the team managed to destroy the three inhibitors on OG’s side. Just as VIT seemingly headed to an easy win, Origen contested a Baron execution and drove Vitality back with three kills, buying a bit more time. But with waves coming from all the sides, OG didn’t have much of a choice and essentially conceded the Baron on Vitality’s second attempt. VIT used its second powerplay to go for the final push, ending the match to consolidate its third place in the standings.
