With Rage 2 coming out, Bethesda thought it would be a good idea to write their own guide on tips and tricks for the new game. Here’s what Bethesda has put together.
Rage 2 Tips and Tricks: A Guide by Bethesda
Wondering how to use your abilities faster in combat? Or how to make the captured vehicle yours? Well, the fine folks at iD Software have fun together a guide to help gamers who want to have an edge on the first day of Rage 2. Here is everything you’ll need to know about wandering around the Wasteland, in-game abilities and vehicles.
Knowing The Wasteland is Key
In order to obtain all the weapons and abilities in order to have a fighting chance in battle, you’ll need something called “Arks”. They are necessary for getting weapons/abilities you need. In order to find these Arks, you’ll need to talk to people in the hub cities where they will give you clues in datapads. You can most definitely find them on your own, but it’s more by stumbling upon the Arks by chance. It’s better to explore the hub cities and obtain as much information as you can.
Rage 2 Combat Tips
Like any first-person shooter game, knowing your weapons and what they can do right away will help you create gameplans during combat. Weapons in Rage 2 can be upgraded, giving it additional features that will give you the upper hand during gunfights. Many of the weapons in-game have a secondary fire mode, so understand which weapons have this option and which ones don’t.
The battle styles in Rage 2 are highly on the offense side. the more aggressive you are, the better chances you’ll have in winning battles. The term “run and gun” is highly applicable in Rage 2. Those who are able to use speed and momentum in-game will rule the wasteland. In addition to the combat system, you’ll want to gather as much Feltrite as you can. Feltrite’s are found in crates around the world, on enemies and meteorites. You use Feltrite to upgrade your weapons and abilities. While roaming around looking for Feltrites, everything you do gains you favor with one of the 3 core characters in the game. As you level up with them, you get project points. This can also be used for upgrades.
Buying and Selling
You’ll want to buy schematics from sellers around the wasteland. You use them to upgrade items like Wingsticks, Grenades and Turret Drones. While at the shops, look to sell items you don’t need. Here is the list of shops that will buy your junk:
- Wellspring
- Gunbarrel
- Oasis
- Lagooney
- Dreadwood
Make sure while you’re exploring wasteland that you look in obscure areas where you might find some hidden items. You’ll be closely looking for a “special chair”. The chair is the life of the game.
Rage 2 Abilities Tips
The first thing you’ll want to do in Rage 2 upgrades the cooldown for your Nanotrite abilities first. This will allow you to use your abilities faster in combat, which can make or break you. Doing so will also give you the chance to unlock Overdrive, which powers up all your weapons and abilities. This will make you go into an insane mode and give you a higher chance to out-do all your opponents.
“Being able to chain abilities and weapons to quickly fill your Overdrive meter is key to owning the battlefield. Combat really opens up when you master your combos.”
Additionally, in combat the higher you are on your enemies when using a slam, the more effective it will be causing an immense amount of damage. As well, using the dash function will help you avoid enemy bullets. The Dash also helps you get to hard-to-reach places, giving you an advantage.
Rage 2 Vehicles
Knowing the vehicles in Rage 2 is as important as knowing your weapons. Finding a vehicle is one step of the process. Making it yours is another. Bring back the vehicle you found to a garage at one of the hub cities like:
- Wellspring
- Gunbarrel
- Lagooney
- Dreadwood
Once you do this you’ll make the vehicle yours. Just access the Vehicles tab in the menu. Once you get a hang of using vehicles, you’ll want to make sure you know how to use the handbreaks. It will help you in the streets of Rage 2.
