Fortnite v7.20 Update Breakdown [Update #2]

All Changes to Fornite after update v7.20

Fortnite Battle Royale received a new update and patch notes have been announced here is your Fortnite v7.20 breakdown by importance.

Fortnite players have been anticipating what changes to expect with the second version of the V7.20 update. Major concerns regarding small shield drop rates and changes to movement items have been altered after the Fortnite fan base voiced their frustrations. Here is a breakdown of major changes for the V7.20 update

Sneaky Snowman

The most interesting item included with the update is the Sneaky Snowman. There are currently new snowmen spread out across various locations on the current Fortnite map. You can either wear the sneaky snowman as a disguise or throw it to create a decoy. Players who wear the Snowman can move freely but cannot build or change the item. This is due to the fact that the Sneaky Snowman has its own health bar of 100, while acting as a shield when worn by a player.

This is a first for Fortnite as the original Bush camouflage never acted as a shield. Even if detected a player can take damage and be able to counter his enemy before taking health damage. The snowman is common rarity item and drops in stacks of 5.  The Sneaky Snowman is also available in the creative mode.

Changes to the Shields

After Fortnite release 1 of update 7.20, small shield potions became incredibly hard to find. This created friction as players immediately voiced their frustrations. Epic Games took action with the current update while trying to balance the shield drop rates

Shield Potion

  • Reduced drop chance from Floor Loot from 16.53% to 13.22%.
  • Reduced drop chance from Chests from 14.26% to 9.51%.

Small Shield Potion

  • Increased drop chance from Floor Loot from 13.22% to 16.53%.
  • Increased drop chance from Chests from 9.51% to 14.26%.

The change is somewhat of a head scratch as the half pot drop rates have dropped while increasing the small shield drop chances. This can also altered after zombies, who discharge health when killed, will be removed from the game in the upcoming weeks.

Vaulted Items

This marks the first time ever that Fortnite had 3 items getting during the same update. The Quad Launcher, Port-a-Fortress and Grappler are hitting the vault. Quad Launcher being vaulted was leaked prior to the update. However, the grappler, the most popular movement item used by Pro Players, is shocking. Some fans were convinced it was balloons not the grappler that would be removed. The grappler made its formal introduction during Season 5

Nerfing Air Items

Fortnite v7.20 update is nerfing everything that can fly. All movement items are seeing big drop rates:

Gliders

  • Reduced drop chance from Chests from 11.89% to 4.43%.

Balloons

  • Reduced drop chance from Chests from 7.58% to 3.24%.

Quad Crashers

  • Reduced the spawn chance of Quad Crashers from 100% to 50%.

X-4 Stormwing Planes

  • Reduced the spawn chance of X-4 Stormwings from 80% to 50%.

Once again, planes remain in the game yet take another drop rate hit after their seeing a nerf with update 7.10 #3.
