Finally: Epic announces Fortnite Secret Skirmish Invitational

Epic Games announces it’s new Fortnite tournament, the Fortnite Secret Skirmish. The event starts on Feburary 14th. Here is what you need to know

The Fortnite tournament scene has been quiet since the conclusion of the Winter Royale. Epic did not release news about any upcoming tournaments for over a month. However, this week Epic Games  released a statement that they are working on a new backend tournament system. Less then 48 hours later they confirmed the next major tournament, the Fortnite Secret Skirmish.

Fortnite Secret Skirmish

The tournament will be called Fortnite Secret Skirmish and will take place starting on Valentine’s day, February 14th and 15th. This is Epic Games full announcement:

“Happy New Year! We’re breaking into 2019 with a special invitational competition called the Secret Skirmish. Don’t tell anyone, but we’ll be awarding $500,000 in prize money for this 2-day event. This invitational will include top players from each Open Fortnite competition held so far.
Rumour has it that the event will be held in a classified, undisclosed testing facility on February 14th and 15th. Each match will be transmitted to our official channels. You can expect the same high-powered matches as TwitchCon and PAX, but also expect us to explore additional… operations… during the two days of competition.

Keep a close eye on upcoming announcements as we uncover more details for this event. This event will covertly be used to better prepare our broadcast team for the upcoming Fortnite World Cup later this year. We’re incredibly excited to share more details soon on how you can participate in the Fortnite World Cup.”

Who is invited?

The 100 players invited to the Secret Skirmish is now complete. Players were selected based on their performance of recent tournaments. This includes top 20 players from PAX West, Top 25 from Explorer cup, Top 35 from the NA Winter Royale and finally the top 20 from the Fall Skirmish Finals held at TwitchCon.
