The first official FACEIT Pro Series Apex Legends Esports tournament will go underway on May 30, 2019. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming tournament.
Apex Legends Esports
When Apex Legends was released back in February, the game exploded, reaching a player count of 50 million. Due to the popularity, esports organizations were keeping a close eye on player activity. That’s when NRG Esports noticed a rising star by the name of Dizzy. He was the first player in the world to reach level 100 in Apex Legends. After Dizzy was officially recruited by NRG, other esports teams moved into the picture and started scouting talent for the growing game.
One of the first tournaments for Apex Legends was the Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge which included the likes of NRG Dizzy, Shroud (an ex-esports player), Dr Disrespect and Summit1g. The tournament had a different format than we’re used to seeing. Teams that participated in the Apex Legends Challenge wouldn’t compete against each other. The goal would be to accumulate the most points from their matches, and the team with the most points would be crowned champions.
FACEIT Pro Series Apex Legends: First Official Esports Tournament
Recently, FACEIT, a platform for esports within online multiplayer video games, announced that they would be hosting the “first officially licensed” Apex Legends tournament.
We’re delighted to announce we’ll be hosting the first officially-licensed @PlayApex tournament: FACEIT Pro Series: Apex Legends

The competition will have a prize pool of $50,000 over eight events. It’s not certain that the format of the tournament will be, but it might look something like what we’ve seen with the Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge. The official FACEIT website doesn’t offer any more details, however, their Apex Legends page gives some slight information. More details to follow.
