- As Apex Legends Season 4 begins, players are starting to voice their concerns about SBMM. Skill-based matchmaking has become an issue in many new games and gamers are not happy about it.
Apex Legends Season 4 was introduced two days ago, and players are raving about the new editions in the game. Season 4 changed the game considerably and there are many new things came with it. The map changed we have a new gun called Sentinel and a new Legend Revenant. However, there is one aspect of the game that is under criticism and that is SBMM. SBMM or Skill Based Match Making is where the games system determines who you should play against. This allows weak skilled players to play against the players in their same skill level. But most gamers, especially high skilled ones, do not like this feature.
SBMM is currently in many games, most notably Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It’s a feature that is also not popular with CoD players. Most players are stating that their K/D is much lower because of this. Apex Legends developers, Respawn Entertainment, announced that the SBMM was in the game since the start, therefore, it is not something they are implementing now and they will continue to improve upon it. Let us check what they said,
“With this patch, we’ll be pushing out changes globally to matchmaking that we’ve been testing in specific regions. We’re well aware that this has been a contentious topic among players and there’s been some misinformation out there so just to be clear: skill-based matchmaking has existed in Apex since launch and we’ll be continuing to improve it over time.” – Apex Legends Reddit (source)
However, the changes that are coming with this update are completely unknown and let us be clear that of course in a very controversial topic like this, they will probably never reveal. When we are thinking about the SBMM changes and what can be made there are a few things that come to mind. Maybe the SBMM skill levels will be tighter, meaning you will not be matched with better players in the future at all. No matter what Apex Legends SBMM is in the game and it looks like it will stay in the game for the time being.
The time has come to reveal your true nature. Season 4 – Assimilation is now live!
