Respawn Entertainment pushes out the first Apex Legends update, here is a quick summary of what changes to look for.
Apex Legends by Respawn Entertainment came out of nowhere. However, the game was so successful in it’s first week surpassing the 25 million player mark. Taking a considerable bite from the Battle Royale pie, the game only has 1 map for now. However, rumors have it more maps will be following. Apex Legends CEO Vince Zampella said that they will try to keep the game updated as much as they can. Respawn has fulfilled their first promise, as the first Apex Legends update came a day before Valentine’s day.
The update is not a broad update to its gameplay mechanics. The patch starts with a Valentine’s Day cosmetic “Through the Heart” Longbow Epic DMR skin and “Love of the Game” Pathfinder banner frame. These items can be bought from the store only. Also, for a limited time, If you revive a member of your squad you will receive the “Live Die Live” Banner Badge.
There are tweaks to the UI and some server issues are fixed with the update. Although performance issues will continue for a little while, this is a step in the right direction for Respawns first Apex Legends update.
Gameplay Changes
The gameplay changes are limited to two changes. Arc Star will now show a grenade warning. Also a first nerf to the game, as a character Bloodhound’s ability takes a hit. Bloodhound’s Eye of the allfather ability, is dropped by 1 second.
Respawn Entertainment also stated that: “We still have a lot of work to do and we hear those frustrated by disconnects and crashes and are working to improve stability and performance as well as provide more visibility for everyone.” Visibility will need a future patch, however network related issues can be implemented without patch or very small downtimes.
